Doreen McCormick

Head Coach

Doreen is the Iceni founder and Head Coach. She didn’t learn to play basketball until she began teaching at Broadland High School in 1976, where she was persuaded to train a girls’ team at the school. She began playing with the University of East Anglia team while learning the game and continues to coach at the high school today.

Over the years, Doreen has coached all of the Norfolk girls’ teams and in 19?, assisted by Julia Musson and Jo Wilkinson, helped the Norfolk School’s U.16’s to become national champions.

She served as Competition Secretary and Ladies Representative on the Norfolk Basketball Committee for 33 years, before retiring from the post in 2016.

In 2005, Doreen received the Norwich Sports Council Sporting Achievement Award for coaching. She was also awarded the Keith Eddy Trophy in 1987 for services to Basketball and again in 2008, to mark her 25 years of service to Norfolk Basketball.

Doreen holds a Level 2 Coaching Award and a Level 2 Refereeing Qualification.
